Food Safety
Why is Food Safety Important?
Keeps food safe to eat.
Prevents people from getting sick from unsafe food.
Protects customers and the company’s reputation.
Basic Food Safety Tips
1. Cleanliness
Wash your hands with soap and water before and after handling food.
Clean tables, shelves, and tools used for food regularly.
2. Separate
Keep raw food (like meat) away from ready-to-eat food to avoid cross-contamination.
3. Check Temperatures
Some foods need to be kept cold (in a cool room or freezer)
Use a thermometer to check. Cold food should be below 4°C, frozen should be -18°C.
4. Storage
Store food at the right temperature.
Keep food in sealed containers to protect it from pests like rats, mice, ants and insects, and contamination.
Follow the “First In, First Out” rule: Use older items first to keep everything fresh.
5. Report Problems
If you see something wrong (like spoiled food or pests), tell your supervisor.
Don’t handle food if you are sick, especially with stomach problems or exposed sores.
Remember
Food safety starts with you. Your actions can keep food safe and prevent illness.
Always wash your hands properly before and after handling food.
Make sure all food is stored at the correct temperature.
Report any sightings of insects and rodents to your supervisor.
Always follow the rules and procedures for food safety in the warehouse.
